This has enough space and mailboxes to support a respectable operation, with 50-100 or more pages, depending on how heavily illustrated they are. And the CGI-bin means you can add further services such as information from databases. This requires programming, but there are thousands of cheap and free programs out on the web, so your effort could well be no more than simple adjustments to fit your needs.

VARIATIONS AND ADDITIONS

You can enhance the above options with several additions. If you need credit card handling on your site, you will probably need to add SSL. But check with your current credit card clearer and/or with a bank that offers web site transactions. It's possible they will provide this security for you.

DEFINITIONS AND TERMS

The domain names offered for free are those available at the basic UK price (e.g. co.uk, uk.co). If the price for your domain type attracts a higher charge, the difference will be payable to Trainflow. The free domain is offered only as part of a hosting agreement.   Please note that UK sites may take 2-3 days to propagate (become known to the web), and US sites 7-9 days. Web and email forwarding therefore take similar times to activate.   ”All fees paid” relates to the initial year. Note that all sites have to pay a small annual administration charge. This is standard practice across the web, but the cost varies according to the country which holds your registration. UK domains are registered with the UK national registration body, US domains (such as .com) are registered for you with the US body, and Trainflow hosts your domain through one of the largest independent web hosting services in the UK.   Both Standard and Standard-Plus options allow you to maintain your own site pages, creating them in whatever web software you prefer, and then uploading to your site. Uploading requires FTP (file transfer) software to get the pages and images from your computer to the web site. Trainflow's hosting options do not include this software, but it is not difficult to obtain. Terrapin and Cute-FTP are among the popular offerings. Trainflow can upload for you if you wish, but will charge for the time taken in doing so.   You can transfer an existing domain to Trainflow from another hosting service, but please note the following: If your present host obstructs the transfer, Trainflow cannot complete it for you. Hosting fees are not normally transferred, so a new 12-month hosting period will begin from the date of transfer. Because the "free domain" is a genuine free offer, there is no discount for not taking it up. (Sorry!) If for any reason you decide to move from Trainflow to another hosting service, any unused balance of your hosting fee is not repayable. However, Trainflow makes no charge for such a transfer (unlike some hosting services) and will arrange its side of the transfer as soon as it reasonably can (i.e. normally within 1-3 days).   Very few web services escape occasional disruptions through technical failure. Trainflow can do little to influence the situation in these circumstances, and clients must recognise this. Trainflow therefore accepts no consequences to its clients arising from any kind of service failure. However, Trainflow does operate in good faith, and will extend contracts by a day for each known day of more than 12 hours lost service (up to a total of 21 days in one year) if the loss is due to a web failure specific to Trainflow's service supplier. No extension will occur for any other cause.   You can pay for hosting by cheque or be invoiced for payment. In both cases, hosting is set up on receipt of payment. Clients who host with Trainflow get a 3-month free link on DudleyMall (dudleymall.co.uk) - normally £20 p.a.
